Day 1 - Book Love - 4 Books A Day, Over 4 Days - Journal Type & Others

Hello all you lovely people!
Hope you are having a good day.

I recently ordered 16 books from Amazon.co.uk. I went a little mad as I was in a boredom zone. As you all know from my other blog post, that I am currently jobless and pregnant. So I'm sometimes stuck of what to do with myself lately. I thought to myself "I love journaling and writing, maybe buy some books that involves that". Logged onto Amazon and went a little crazy searching for the right books and then spending the money on these books. So after when I brought 16 books, I thought I would share them with you (The Fans of Journal Type Books).

I have brought journal type books and other random books that might interest you.

I am splitting the books up into 4 blog posts - daily. 4 books a day.

[Sorry if your on a 'No Spend' month]

{Oh and also NOTE, that my grammer is not great, sorry. I am not so great giving reviews either so I hope I'm some help}

Book No 1

Title of the book: Year of the Doodle: 365 Drawing, Collaging, and Mark-Making Adventures

Author: Dawn DeVries Sokol

Published: 3 November 2015

Pages: 192 pages

Product dimensions: 16.5 x 2.2 x 20.3cm

Stars out of 5:  5

Link to the book: Amazon - Year of the Doodle

What the book is:  A book where it gives you a daily doodle prompt and you doodle the prompt.

My Review:

I am so in love with this book. I love how colourful the pages are and the feel of the pages are great.
The paper quality is very good and no bleed through from sharpies. Its a great project to get stuck into, especially if you love to wind down and doodle. There is a daily doodle prompt with a space to doodle, the days being different size boxes. So you don't feel overwelmed by doing a whole page of doodles. It was published in 2015 so it misses 29th February, but there is a page for notes after every month so can just add 29th on there.

I didn't buy this book for doodling. I am using the book for daily journal prompts. I am going to either label over the daily prompt or scribble it out, and write my own journal prompt. Instead of being a doodle a day book for me, it will be a journal prompt a day. As I prefer to write instead of draw/doodle.

Book No 2

Title of the book: Q & A a day for Me: A 3-Year Journal for Teens

Author: Betsy Franco

Published: 25th November 2014

Pages: 368 pages

Product dimensions:  14.9 x 2.6 x 18.3 cm

Cover type: Soft

Stars out of 5:  4

Link to the book:  Amazon - Q & A a day for Me

What the book is: A book where it gives you a daily journal prompt and you answer it. The book is for 3 years, so you get to see your answers throughout the 3 years. How different your answers were last year to present year.

My Review:

I'm so happy I brought this book, as its better than I expected. When I saw that it said 'teens' in the title, I'll be honest it put me off. As I am 25 years old mother with two children and one on the way, I am no teen (lol). I saw in one of the reviews on Amazon that it said "questions are aimed at teens/young adult". I thought young adult is okay for me, so I went ahead and brought it. It doesn't have the word teen on the front cover anywhere either, which is nice. I searched through the book when I receieved it and only saw 3 or 4 questions to do with teens (ex: something like "how are your grades").  I can just skip them questions as its a few random ones throughout the book and it doesn't bother me at all.

Some of the questions are simple and easy to answer and others are deep and something to think about. So you get a various of random questions throughout the book. The pages are lovely, quality is okay, some pages have a patterned border. It has lines to answer the question, which is great for me as I do not write in a straight line.

The reason why I gave this book a 4 is because 1.) Its a 3 year journal and I would like it to be a 5 year journal. 2.) It has no bookmarker ribbon thing so you can track where you are in the book. Apart from that, I'm very happy with this book.

Book No 3

Title of the book:  A Thought A Day: Five year Journal

Publisher: Peter Pauper Press; Jou edition

Published: 1st July 2011

Pages:  372 pages

Product dimensions:  18.3 x 11.7 x 2.5 cm

Cover type: Hard cover

Stars out of 5:   5

Link to the book: Amazon - A thought a day

What the book is: A 5 year journal to store your thoughts.

My Review:

Nice little book for your thoughts. Random thoughts you have throughout the day. Its easy and small enough to carry around in your bag. It has 5 years so you can see your random thoughts throughout the 5 years and have a laugh about them. There is 5 lines for each day, which is enough to write your thoughts. There is no bookmarker ribbon thing which is a little disspointing. Not really much to say about this book. If you want somewhere to keep your random thoughts, then this book is for you.

Book No 4

Title of the book:  Dream Journal

Publisher: Knock Knock Books

Published: 1st August 2013

Pages: 128 pages

Product dimensions:  1.9 x 15.2 x 23.5 cm

Cover type: Soft

Bookmarker: Yes

Stars out of 5:  5

Link to the book:  Amazon - Dream Journal

What the book is: A book where you record your dreams.

My Review:

I really like this dream journal. Best one I've seen so far. It has 2 pages to fill out for each dream. The front cover is gorgeous. Has a place for you to write down and record your dream, a place to draw/doodle your dream if you like, and a place to reflect on your dream.

I've been having really strange, random dreams lately while I'm pregnant and thats the reason why I brought this book.

I also brought a A - Z  Dream Dictionary to go along with my Dream Journal. To be honest I don't know if I believe that dreams have meanings, but thought it would be fun to look up anyways.

So thats the 4 books today :) I'll be back tomorrow with another blog post of 4 more books.

Thanks for reading xoxo

Journals/Planner using this year 2016

Happy New Year everyone!!

2016 is finally here and hope you've all made your New Year's Resolutions, because I haven't haha.
I need to know, just don't know what to put on it this year. No point losing weight as I'm pregnant lol, already stopped eating junk food anyways because gone off it haha. I'm a little lost this year as I quit my job in November for good reasons. First time I've been jobless as worked since I left school, so been working for 9 years. My partner now brings the money in and I am a stay at home Mummy/housewife. Its good though because I'm not missing any time out with my partner as he works nights so only missing my evenings with him. Not all my evening though as he works 4 days a week. So its all good :) Anyways...

Are you looking forward to anything this year?
[I did have a hot air balloon flight to look forward to in March but found out that I can't go now I'm pregnant as they won't let you :( oh well lol]

I've put a Pinterest board together called '2016' , some good ideas on there. Click here if you would like to check it out.

Right then...

Journals / Planner I'm using this year:

1. Filofax Domino patent personal organiser in Turquoise as my Planner

The set up isn't complete yet as I'm still working on it. Trying to combine Filofax and Bullet journal together. So far only have the monthly and weekly inserts. I'm not using any stickers or deco in here though as the pages will just be thrown away once I've finished with them.

2. Kikki K cute large diary as my everyday diary

I will be using stickers in this :)
I haven't started it as yet but so excited as I have never owned anything Kikki K. Its just so pretty!! I love the set up too and the pages have already got pretty borders around the edges.
Here's a YouTube video I found of the Kikki K cute large diary - Click here!

3. Happy planner / Create365

I'm not using this as a planner or dairy. I'm using it for my photos.
This year I'm doing 'A Photo A Day' project!
(This actually could be one of my Goals this year, to keep this project up and not to quit!)

Thought this page every month is lovely to fill out :)

So this is the layout of the weeks. This is how I'm planning to use the happy planner ...

A. Highight of the day/or something that made me happy

B. The Photo of the day! (Which I'm taking pictures from my phone and printing off using an photo app).

C. A quote that relates to the day. (I was gonna put a journal prompt each day but I'm using a different notebook for journal prompts).

4. Little book of quotes and inspiration/notes to self.

Been adding quotes and other things that I find on pinterest or else where into this little book.

5. Mind journal.

I'm not sure if I'm going to be using this as the same way as I've been using it. I think I might just store my thoughts in this notebook. If interested in how I was using my Mind journal, please click here!

6. 2016 Year book

I'm still working out how I'm going to use this notebook, as I want it to be perfect.

Stickers - Show & Tell

Happy Holidays!

Sorry I've been absent from my blog. It's so busy around Christmas time, trying to get things done. We got the Christmas tree (Santa's tree, my son likes to call it lol) late this year, normally have it up before 1st December but put it up last week. Also with all the things going on we forgot to get the kids chocolate advert calendars and then realised by the 5th but all out of stock everywhere we went. Upset about it as we get them every year. Instead we used the chocolate from the tree, each day they have one :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas holidays so far!

Here is my long overdue stickers show and tell post.

These are the stickers I brought few weeks back and love them, so wanted to share them with you.

I brought these pretty dot stickers for my calendar and maybe use them to write dates on them.

Stickers are from Cosmic Stickers

I wanted to buy all the stickers from this shop! Just beautiful stickers here.
I brought some tab stickers, which are floral :)
I really love the weather stickers.
The beer stickers are for when my partner goes out to pub to play pool with his brother. So I like to track that as when he spends money, I get money he spent lol (we share money here! :) )

These stickers are from keena prints

These lovely stickers are from Karen pringle @ The Plump Planner

Calendar stickers and weather stickers from Plan With Jade

I brought a Silhouette cutting machine this week, haven't spend a lot of time playing with it yet, but can't wait to get making stickers, tabs, stencils and paper clips.

Mind Journal

Aswell as using my Bullet Journal daily (& my Brain dump notebook), I also use my Mind Journal.

Notebook I use: Leuchtturm1917 (A5 size) in Emerald colour.

Why I wanted this 'Mind Journal' notebook seperate to my Bullet Journal:
This notebook is a lot more personal than my Bullet Journal, which means I wouldn't take it out of the house with me.

So heres what I write in my 'Mind Journal' ...

Index:

Quotes & Inspiration pages
Bedtime Yoga
Mood chart
Feelings/Thoughts
On my mind
Balance of life (monthly)
Gratitude list
Mood boards
Reflection
Life goals
List of things I love
Meditation
Yoga workouts
Apps

Quotes & Inspiration pages -

I like to get my quotes and inspiration from Pinterest. I either write them down or print things off and stick it into the notebook.

Here is a few of my Pinterest boards related to my Mind Journal:
Write in Mind Journal
Positive thinking/relax/the mind
Mindful/Positive thinking

Bedtime Yoga -

I know bedtime yoga sounds silly (cause it did to me before I found a blog post and video on it).

Its very relaxing before bed.

Here is the blog post and video I found on Bedtime Yoga - Click here!

Mood chart -

The Mood chart is good at tracking how stressed out I am, within the month. I have two very active young kids under 5 years old and I do feel that I get stressed out quite a bit.

My colour code system:
Yellow - Happy
Blue - Sad
Green - Okay
Red - Angry
Orange - Stressed

Feelings/Thoughts -

I write down (daily if possible) all the feelings or thoughts I had that day.

Things that have been playing on my mind or that I think a lot about.

On my mind -

I write down whats on my mind at that time.

I might take this out of the Journal as its similar to the 'Feelings/Thoughts' page.

Suppose its more of a quick glance of whats been on my mind in that month.

(Ignore the ugly doodle LOL)

Balance of life (monthly) -

I haven't quite figured out how this section is going to work just yet.

This is what I have so far...

Gratitude list -

This is my favourite part in my Mind Journal. I love writing down what I'm grateful for that day.

I write 5 things that I'm grateful for that day. Even the smallest of things.

I also write a reason next to each one.

Mood boards -

I haven't started this section yet, so I have no pictures to show you.

The idea is to collect pictures (maybe from Pinterest) and create a 'Mood board' on the page. Things that made you smile that month or favourites of the month, or even an inspiration page.

Reflection -

I also haven't started this section as yet, so no pictures to show you.

I'll have to do an update blog post when I finish the rest of the sections.

Same with...

Life goals
List of things I love
Meditation
Yoga workouts

Apps -

Dreamboard
Headspace
Relax Melodies: Sleep & Yoga
Moodtrack Diary: Mood Tracker

So thats my Mind Journal!

Hope you enjoyed this blog post & hopefully your here for my next blog post:
Weekly Favourites [15/11/2015].
